At EFire, we work with a great number of clients throughout the UK, ensuring their premises is safe and secure 24 hours a day. Our aim is to give you complete peace of mind that you are protected at all times.
Project Overview:
Client: Healthcare Facility
Details: Upgrade of existing latent defect installation
Panel type: Advanced Electronics MxPro4004
Device type: Apollo XP95
Number of Panels: 7 (5 repeaters)
Device quantity: 675 (330 new)
Network: Advanced fault-tolerant
Project length: 4 weeks
Project Summary:
The site was a newly built nursing home, for neurological and spinal injuries EFire were requested to undertake a review of the design of the fire precautions and provide an in-depth report.
Issues:
Our report highlighted issues with both the passive, compartmentation and the active detection. The existing fire alarm control system could not accept the additional detection, as required for the network expansion owing to the initial design of the original system.
It was found that the existing detection and cabling did meet the recommended standards and codes of practice and we were able to design a new system that incorporated these devices, cutting down on the cost of both materials and labour.
Project:
The roof spaces within the whole of the building did not have detection as required to give L1 coverage. We had to design a system to install 330 additional devices to an existing system with minimal damage to the fabric of the recently completed building. As the building was not occupied this aided our installation.
Challenges:
Owing to the opening of the new hospital already set in stone our engineers worked in 2 shifts one during the day and one through the night to ensure the works were completed on time. The client requested a complex cause and effect suite to be programmed for delayed zonal and horizontal evacuation owing to the complex needs of the clients.
The works were completed ahead of time, on budget and to the satisfaction of the client and in line with BS5839 part 1 to an L1 system, complete with 3-party certification of design, installation and commissioning as per BAFE SP203.
